Setting Drop Caps

Drop caps are large characters that extend below the normal baseline of the first line of an opening paragraph. Canvas X Draw indents the text below the first line to make room for the drop caps. You can format drop caps for any selected paragraphs.

To Create a Drop Cap:

  1. Choose Text | Type.
  2. In the Type palette, click the Indent tab to bring it to the front.
  3. Depending on how you want the drop cap to apply, do one of the following:

    To apply to

    Do this

First paragraph in a text object

Select the object or place the insertion point anywhere in the first paragraph.

    All other paragraphs

Place the insertion point in a paragraph, or select a paragraph. You can also select multiple consecutive paragraphs.

A new paragraph you are about to type

Place the insertion point at the beginning of the paragraph.

    The preset format

Deselect all objects. Canvas X Draw will apply drop caps to the first paragraph of all new text objects you create with the Text tool.

  1. Configure the drop cap options described below.
  2. Click Apply.

Drop Cap Settings

Lines

Characters
