How to Convert MetaObjects to Canvas Objects

Overview: When pasting into Canvas X from other applications, a MetaObject container is created. The MetaObject is a Canvas X "Container" for a system metafile (WMF/EMF). These files are not readily editable until you convert to a Canvas object.

Steps To Convert:

  1. Copy and paste text or an object from MS Word, for example.
  2. In Canvas X, paste into your document area.
  3. Select the pasted object. The Status bar will display it as a MetaObject:
  4. In the Properties Bar, click on "Convert to Objects".
  5. The MetaObject is now converted to a group or displays the property in which the object started. In this case, Text.
  6. This is now further editable using the Text Tools and features within Canvas X.
